Projects:

A-Level Final project:

A design brief focused on creating solutions for low-resource or underserved communities.

Following my research, I chose to focus on space-saving solutions and multi-use products, after discovering that people in underdeveloped countries often have limited living space and financial resources to invest in their homes.

Key aspects of the Design process:

This was the first time I had worked with a restricted budget on a design project, which pushed me to carefully consider both material choices and design details. As a result of these budget constraints, the final product differed slightly from my original concept. However, finding the right balance between functionality and cost was essential to ensure the design remained appropriate for both the target user and the client.

The final Product:

The final product is a foldable, multi-functional table designed for use as both a dining and coffee table, featuring integrated storage elements. It folds compactly to save space when not in use. Constructed from MDF with a protective paint coating, the table includes pull-out drawers on either side with 3D-printed handles made from recyclable thermoplastic. It is assembled using hinge and finger joints, with wooden dowels reinforcing the shelving.

University Final Project:

Designing for Social Impact:

This was one of my third-year projects, where we were challenged to respond to a design brief focused on improving our environmental impact. The project aimed to bring together everything we had learned, drawing on skills in design, branding, research, and theory, to develop a thoughtful and impactful solution.

Ideation and Research:

After conducting extensive research into not only other eco apps but also simialr industries, such as supermarket apps, i created my initial designs. That i then whent onto develop with public feedback and colour research.

Final design and implementation:

To achieve the highest grade, we were required to demonstrate the full spectrum of skills acquired throughout the degree. With this goal in mind, I chose to expand the core feature of my app, the traffic light nutritional labeling system, to maximize its impact. I prototyped its application on food packaging to evaluate how seamlessly it could integrate into the shopping experience. While the existing traffic light system for nutritional content is already widely used on products, I wanted to explore how my app’s design would visually coexist alongside the established labeling. This mock ups helped determine whether the combined approach was effective or if the app alone would be a more suitable solution.
