Sapient Limited: Nissan

Junior UX/UI Designer (placement)

Working within the Nissan Design team, during their remodelling of the Nissan website and App interfaces.

Figma and Miro

I learnt to use Figma and Miro to create wireframes.

Presenting my research neatly and clearly

Also for designing my workshop

Presenting and Collaborating

I presented my research on competitors existing web and app designs

Collaborating with the team for my design of the newspaper

Designed and hosted a teams workshop

Brand Design and Management

I had to quickly familiarise myself with Nissan’s brand identity to contribute effectively to design discussions

Balancing brand identity with improvement and modernisation

Time management, Admin and Communication

Working between the London office and home, with team members hot-desking, required strong communication, time management, and organisational skills. I used Microsoft Teams and Figma to stay aligned, share updates, and manage tasks, ensuring smooth collaboration in a flexible work environment.

Logo Design

Thanks to my experience with the Adobe Creative Suite and a strong design background, I was given the responsibility of designing the logo for Nissan’s new internal team magazine.

Customer journey flow and Client collaboration

For Nissan, the goal was to update the interface and customer journey mapping to enhance the user experience and ultimately drive sales. We provided regular updates to other Nissan teams to ensure alignment and transparency around our design decisions. Collaboration with front end developers was essential ensuring our concepts were both feasible and accurately implemented.

Ford Dunton Design Studios:

I spent two weeks shadowing and practicing alongside the Design team. From initial sketches to the final models.Gaining a detailed overview of the full design process.

Linear perspective drawing

I was taught the basics of perspective drawing on cars, as they are used regularly for initial designs to body contours and flow lines

CAD CAM

CAD was used to not only develop designs but to program the milling machine for the large scale clay models.

Clay modelling

I learnt clay modeling basics, including tool control, proper application, and maintaining the correct temperature. Unlike any material I’d worked with before, slower in process but offering excellent detail and flexibility. The ability to experiment by adding or removing clay differed from other prototyping.

VR Sketching

This was a recent addition to the design process. Using VR to both look into existing CAD designs, walking around and sitting in designs. And designing cars in teams calls. I had a chance to attempt this myself.

Paint and Client profiling

The colour studio showed the process of deciding on new car colours and interior combinations. I completed a project ,creating colourways for a family of four. For both interior and exterior. Mood boarding and competitor research.

Foam board prototyping

Having never used it before, I discovered how effective foam board is for rapid design iteration. Its surface allows for direct sketching, making the process feel more creative, intuitive, and true to the early stages of concept development.
